Information You Send
A name, phone number, or address entered into a search form is sent to the third-party provider that returns the results. Hawaiʻi Residents Directory does not store a copy of those search terms on its own server. If you contact us, we receive the details in your message so we can respond to it.
Basic Technical Logs
The hosting service may record an IP address, browser type, page request, and time stamp in routine server logs. We use broad traffic patterns to spot errors and understand which resources are being reached. Basic analytics or ad measurement may also use cookies or similar tools where enabled.
How We Use It
Information is used to run the pages, fix technical issues, measure visits in aggregate, and improve the reference. We do not sell a list of visitors or assemble a personal profile for each reader.
When You Follow an Outside Link
The pages link to Hawaiʻi county and state agencies, library collections, archives, and separate search tools. Once you leave, the other operator's privacy terms apply to the information you submit. Sponsored search results also come from a separate provider.
Service Providers and Disclosure
Hosting and support vendors may process routine logs to keep the pages available. Analytics or advertising partners may receive technical information described above. We disclose information when a valid legal demand requires it, and otherwise limit access to the work of operating the service.
Security and Retention
The site uses an encrypted connection. Routine logs are kept only for the operational needs described here. Because readers do not create accounts, Hawaiʻi Residents Directory does not hold account passwords or user profiles.
Children's Information
These pages are intended for adults rather than children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a person under 18. If you think a minor sent us information, contact us so we can review and remove it when appropriate.
Requests About Your Information
Hawaiʻi's Uniform Information Practices Act, HRS chapter 92F, governs access to records held by state and local agencies. It does not make this private reference an agency or give us control over a county, court, or state file. This research did not identify a separate general Hawaiʻi consumer-privacy statute for the limited visitor data described here. If you want us to look for a message or a technical log we may hold, contact us through the Contact page. Requests to inspect or correct a public record belong with the government custodian.
